Created during Women's History Month,

This project serves as an ode to traditional “women’s work” by featuring quilt-like designs reminiscent of a time when women stayed at home while their husbands left for work outside the home.

Until recently, fiber arts like quilting, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching were not considered fine art by the multi-billion dollar art industry. Instead, they were referred to as “crafts”, a term used almost exclusively to define materials produced by women. Crafts were not sold at fine art galleries or housed in museums.

This project ties the slow-growing societal appreciation for quilting and other textile work as a form of fine art with the plight of women writers, many of whom first published under masculine pen names. Each cover design includes a textured overlay and trendy gradient to merge vintage style with contemporary flair.
